is it me or has anyone else noticed that 98% of the chests in Elona are not worth the gold it costs to buy the key? I am yet to get a gold item from an elona chest..only gold items i got were from monster drops. come to think of it...im getting better drops from monsters than chests

Yes... This is true from my observations as well...
While I may not be aware of the chest issue, I have noticed that Elona yields more gold drops from beasts than Tyria and Cantha. I still wouldn't call it a glitch, though... Maybe the drop rates are just a tad different...?

im gonna stop bothering with the chests till i get into the last 3 mission of the game. Seems like a waste to do it any sooner.

I think every chest I've opened thus far in Nightfall has been purple. I have got some very nice golds, a green, and a white dye (unfortunately after its price fell below black again) from fighting.

it was never supposed to be worth it. look at the posts from back when they introduced chests. the only reason they were worth it for some time was the bug that cause the chest to always give out the same item

it was introduced as a money-sink. until people found that exploit. and now that the exploit is fixed. its back to being a money-sink

The chests are not random. They only drop purple even at endgame. The 1 in 150,000 opened chests (ask Gaile Grey) drops a gold.
All are high reqs. near max stats somewhat middle range in scription levels.

You will get better drops for killing than from chests, chests serve only to drain your coffers while you increase your "opened Chests" title.

I spent all weekend doing chest runs and was about 1 for 4 or 5 on getting gold drops out of them. A good one that got me well worht the price in keys too

spent about 30k in keys... made 100k in profit. works for me

I actually would like to hear Gaile or some other Anet official say that. They can't seriously be that bad. I could believe 1 in 20, but 1 in 150,000?

hi all
In the 1st week everything was good, good drops from mobs and chests, now is allways down hill...

in the 1st week i got 5 15^50 from purple items, now not even from a gold item...its sad, is like taking candys from peps...it seems that anet dont want peps happy... i cant understand all this... is stange.

Playing a warrior why i allways get wands and focus? (and crappy ones)
today i did some quests in the gates and openend 30 chests; only 3 golds all of them staffs whit high req and not perfect, and the rest purple...
and another thing i notice the chests are responding lagly to the opening ( they take some time to drop the item )

well some ppl dont get the items they want from drops and being this drops so rare the price go to so high, some ppl buy the online money to get the items, cause farming is not possible... like before...or is anet selling online money on ghost companys? i dont belive but i think about it...

actually i got a gold from a elona chest, a gold armor that turned up to superior domination....

never got a rare skin, or anything decent

I've had quite a few nice gold drops from chests and tons of purples, but the purples were at least max damage and had an inscription so it's just as good as a gold drop when I add in an inscription of my choice. So I really don't see much of a problem unless you're really hung up about items having to be gold lettering.

I have gotten about 10 golds out of 25 chests I have opened. In vabbi I got a gold armor that yielded a monk rune of sup healing, and then got two perfect gold staffs afterward. I don't see a problem with it.

I've gotten 2-3 golds in a row on vabbian chests on occasion....havn't gotten anything under req 10 yet. And so many req 13's

Unless you have a special fondness for purple blazing wing wands I would suggest against opening chests in nightfallen jahai.

Out of the 20 orso chests I opened here at least 10 were these. The only consolation is they drop with 14^50's which I can salvage.

Blew over 100k on Margonite keys these past 2 days. I've tripled my return on drops and YES i get alot more purples then golds but it's not gonna stop me from chest running. It's very profitable if you invest the time and money into. People who buy 20 keys and quit when they get only 1 gold drop are not gonna make any money in the long run simply because they "keep giving up".

You're in no position to tell people to go elsewhere after ONLY using 20 keys. Nightfallen Jahai is a great place to chest run. Take it from people who have done it over and over. For the record, a chest runner recently auctioned off a req. 9 Elemental Sword for 100k + 105e. That's just from 1 drop! If that isn't good profit I don't know what is.

maybe they are bringing the "Rare" back into gold items. Gold items are way to common and should be RARE!! im glad for the less drops, makes the golds that do drop even better. stop crying please.

If they wanted golds to be nice and rare, at least make them req 8 or 9... so far, my best chest item is a purple from Marga Coast.

Funny that people open two chests and assume every chest is gonna have the same outcome as those...

I've been chest running in elona and the gold drop rate is about 50%. Of course if you just open the same kournan chest all day them come here and cry about it, then yea you'll be getting purps.
